In a lot of European countries CEDAG identified national platforms or national umbrellas. These associations, platforms or networks of civil society organisations on the national level, are dealing with cross-sectorial issues of organisations on a horizontal level. Such national NGOs and networks have developped a strong basis of communication around the interests of citizens by means of networking, counseling or developping innovative projects, they are of increasing importance to the development of the European integration and in activating European citizenship. Not all national NGO platforms in the European Union are able to disseminate EU knowledge due to a lack of information or ressources, some others might struggle to present a united national voice. Bringing those national networks together on the European level, to discuss the challenge of European citizenship develops a support structure in promoting active citizenship in the European Union. The Missing Link project was using dialogue, reflexion and benchmarking about the values of European integration, the European identity, European citizenship and civil dialogue at the European level. The groups targeted by the project were national platforms of associations, voluntary and civic organisations in all European Union member States and in the accession countries. Now most of the European umbrellas joined CEDAG - the European Platform for national NGO Umbrellas and national Associations of General Interest. CEDAG now brings together 33 non-profit umbrellas in 20 European Countries. The former Missing Link PartnersThe former Missing Link project
