The first Directory of Lithuanian NGOs has been published in 1994 by the UNDP http://www.undp.lt/en/

Before, it was difficult to find and get in touch with any of the major NGOs operating.
Since then, NISC www.nisc.lt has served as a catalyst and a spark for a major ransformation of the NGO sector. It was the first source of networking and information sharing, trough its daily work and special initiatives such as the annual NGO Forums and the bimonthly "Third Sector Newsletter". These helped the sector to develop its identity, learn about common issues and how they could be better addressed.
