  Situation in Estonia

The Estonian non-profit sector aims at performing three major tasks: organising free time activities, delivering services outsourced by the state and consulting political decision makers. Their rather limited fields of activity focus on culture, sport, charity, the rights of marginalized groups and the promotion of economic interests. Roughly 53% of the CSOs belong to umbrella organizations, approximately three quarters of them only to one organisation. CSOs and researchers lack shared definitions for fields of nonprofit activity and for what constitutes an umbrella organization.

Estonian NGO Round Table

The Roundtable of Estonian Non-Profit Organisations is a public and open form of co-operation for Estonian non-profit organisations (non-profit associations, foundations, informal partnerships), which was established for discussing the principal issues and forming opinions concerning the non-profit sector, as well as for protecting the interests of the sector and its constituent organisations. It is a platform to gather CSOs, to work active especially on grass root-level and to serve as a contact point.
